Beer Braised Brats 
Recipe: Beer Braised Brats
Ingredients
- 4 tbls butter
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 2 12-oz can or bottle dark beer
- 2 tbls brown sugar
- 2 tbls vinegar
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 10 uncooked bratwurst links (about 2 1/2 lbs)
- 10 buns (hoagie, french or other crusty rolls)
Instructions
- 1 a 4 quart dutch oven, heat butter over medium heat.
- Add onion cook and stir about 5 minutes or until tender and slightly translucent.
- Add beer, sugar, vinegar, thyme, and Worcestershire. Bring to a boil, reduce heat.
- Place brats in beer mixture and cover. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Using tongs remove brats from cooking liquid and reserve liquid.
- Grill brats over medium flame for about 10 minutes until browned.
- If necessary place brats in reserved liquid until to keep warm until serving.
- Place brats in toasted buns and using a slotted spoon top with onions.
